Dave Koz and his family recently received a humanitarian award from the Starlight Foundation for their work supporting children who are seriously ill and their families.
The credit really goes to their late Mom, Audrey Koz, who was an angel on earth.
When I came to LA to work with Dave at The WAVE 13 years ago, Audrey was like a second Mom to me. I’ll never forget once when I was down with the flu how Audrey sent a messenger to my house to bring me chicken soup (just like the Jewish Mom that she was), all kinds of medicine, and cough drops and the hit of my flu survival kit was a freshly baked batch of her famous cookies.
On Dave’s gigs sometimes people were more interested in Audrey’s cookies than the performance!
Now thanks to Dave’s sister, Roberta Koz Wilson, we can all have Audrey’s Cookies anytime we want.
After Audrey’s sudden passing, Roberta launched a website called “Cookies For A Koz” selling cookies she made herself and giving a portion of the proceeds to the Starlight Foundation in honor of her Mom’s memory.
Recently Roberta took the business to the next level, officially founding Audrey’s Cookies, expanding her product line and making a deal with Whole Foods to carry these gourmet cookies right behind the bakery instead of on the shelves.
Roberta stopped by our studios recently to bring a basketful of Audrey’s Cookies which now come in a delicious assortment of seven flavors: Red Velvet, Chocolate Chip Shortbread, White Chocolate Cranberry, Raspberry Shortbread, Lemon Shortbread, Peanut Butter and Jelly and my favorite, Pecan shortbread.
Roberta says Audrey’s Cookies strive to make the world a better place, one cookie at a time with a mission to help kids with every bite. These cookies make a great holiday gift, just make sure to pick up some for yourself too!
Audrey’s Cookies are available at Whole Foods stores all over Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii.
